DEPDev Recognizes STEP APP TBI as SKSU’s Innovation Leader in Region 12

Sultan Kudarat State University (SKSU) once again took a proud step forward in advancing innovation in Mindanao as the Department of Economy, Planning, and Development (DEPDev) visited the campus on August 29, 2025. The visit marked Phase 2 of the national project, “Mapping and Assessment of Government-Funded Innovation Infrastructure,” which aims to identify and strengthen innovation-driven spaces across the Philippines.

During the assessment, the STEP APP Technology Business Incubator (TBI) stood out as SKSU’s flagship innovation hub—recognized for its active role in supporting budding entrepreneurs, student innovators, and tech-driven startups across the SOCCSKSARGEN Region. With its mission centered on empowering the next generation of technopreneurs, STEP APP continues to transform ideas into solutions and talents into leaders.

This recognition reflects STEP APP’s strong alignment with national innovation goals, contributing significantly to the Philippine Development Plan (PDP) 2023–2028 and the National Innovation Agenda and Strategy Document (NIASD) 2023–2032. By fostering local innovation and providing a nurturing space for creative minds, the incubator plays a crucial role in shaping a smarter, globally competitive, and technology-forward nation.

Beyond national priorities, STEP APP also advances global development goals, particularly SDG 9: Industry, Innovation & Infrastructure and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals. Through meaningful collaborations, entrepreneurship programs, and startup-focused initiatives, it continues to cultivate a strong innovation culture within the university and the region.

As SKSU strengthens its commitment to nation-building through research, innovation, and technology, the STEP APP TBI remains at the forefront—creating opportunities, building partnerships, and championing innovators who will shape the future of Region 12 and the Philippines.

The path toward a competitive and innovation-driven future is clear—and STEP APP is helping lead the way. 🚀✨
